Roger Brown has specialised in structural design, seismic engineering, and project management for buildings, industrial plants, hotel and development projects, working in NZ, North America, and Malaysia.  He has also spent time on building sites as construction supervisor and Resident Engineer, and has managed manufacturing and landscape contracting companies.

As a Director of CAL since 2001 he has undertaken a wide variety of projects and assignments, including:

·  Programme Manager and Contract Manager for the Auckland City/Metrowater team which completed
   the 5 year $23m ICS (Integrated Catchment Study of the Auckland isthmus drainage systems and
   receiving environments) requiring data collection, modelling, rainfall analysis and Auckland Harbour
   Study, options analysis, and reporting, and involving administration and management of four large
   contracts and approximately 20 smaller consulting services contracts to completion in 2006.

·  Client advisor and project manager for all aspects of land development projects undertaken by 
   Hauraki Charters on 400Ha property at Awaawaroa Bay, Waiheke, 2002 to 2009, including resource 
   consents, subdivision, route selection and roading design, erosion control and landscaping, QE2 
   Covenant application, and negotiations with neighbours and other stakeholders.

·  Project Manager for housing and roading projects at Mataka Estate in the Bay of Islands, and
   assisting owners in negotiations with developer.

·   Advisor and Project Manager to Landcare Research on part completed 3 story laboratory and office
   building in Panmure, assisting in getting cost and time to completion under control.

·   Working in Indonesia for NZAID and UNDP on seismic assessment and reconstruction assistance
    following the 30 September 2009 earthquake in Padang.

·   In 2010 working as Client Advisor to 5 owners of 40 year old apartment building in Remuera on all
   aspects of refurbishment and modernisation, including helping resolve conflicting interests between
   owners.

Prior to 1990 he was Special Projects Director and a Board Member of Worley Consultants Limited (now AECOM) in Auckland, and during that time published two technical papers and received two engineering design awards.  Projects included work on the Maui B Gas Platform, cement plants in NZ and Malaysia, the Britomart Development concept, and hotels in Tahiti and Fiji. As a Principal in a San Francisco engineering firm in the early 1990’s he was involved in restoration work following the Loma Prieta 1989 earthquake, and Northridge 1994 earthquake, and also gained experience in American engineering management practice.
